No, members may use the club's outdoor facilities during regular hours without a reservation. When multiple parties are using any of our facilities please be extra safety-cautious and courteous. One person (by mutual agreement) must become the ad hoc Range Master and control the flags, the handling of firearms, the changing of targets etc... if more than one user is present at any and all of the range's facilities. Participants in club events and previously scheduled club practices always have priority over drop-in shooters who will not be permitted to interrupt these organized events.
No, but any person who wishes to shoot on the club range without a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) must be under the DIRECT supervision of someone that does have a current PAL or RPAL.
No, but we do have seven .22 CAL rifles with adjustable open target sights that can be used by members and their guests at club events such as the Wednesday night .22 rifle shoot or for introductory programs like the Bull shoot.
No.
No problem, we have trained new shooters as young as 12 years old. It would be best to come and observe your first night and explain that you have never shot before. Extra time is needed to ensure safe handling of firearms and to explain the range rules. Also, plans would be made to have an experienced person be with you when you are shooting.
No. You must be a member of the club (or an escorted guest) to shoot at this range.
Yes, we have a lot of families shooting and learning together. We have no official age limit, but 12 years old seems to be a good age at which to bring your children out to try. Younger shooters are welcome but we would expect their parents to stay and supervise them on the firing line.
Any member of the Powell River Rod and Gun Club can participate.
No Charge! Of course if you travel to fish you are expected to cover your own expenses. You must also supply your own rod, reel and fishing supplies.
No, but what is the fun in that? Licences are available at Marine Traders or Powell River Outdoors where you can also pick up your membership for the Rod and Gun Club.
No, we do not sell or rent equipment.
Yes, we have lots of family's fishing and learning together. Younger members are welcome but we would expect their parent to stay and supervise them.
We focus on fly fishing but that does not exclude anyone or any type of fishing, come on out as the odds are you will meet someone with similar interests.
